Torpedo Bat Blog
The design philosophy of the Torpedo bat is to adopt a size format (e.g., 34 inches and 32 ounces) and distribute the wood in a geometry different from the traditional form to ensure the thickest part of the bat is located where the player can most easily access it.
The end of a standard bat tapers off gradually, with its diameter being as thick as the hitting point of the bat. The Torpedo bat shifts part of the weight at the end of the bat downward by about 6 to 7 inches, giving it a shape similar to a bowling pin, with the end being much thinner.
