The design concept of the torpedo bat is to adopt a size format (e.g., 34 inches and 32 ounces) and distribute the wood in a geometry different from the traditional form to ensure that the thickest part of the bat is located where the player can most easily make contact. The end of a standard bat tapers gradually, with a diameter as thick as the hitting point of the bat. The torpedo bat moves part of the weight of the bat’s end downward by about 6 to 7 inches, giving it a bottle-shaped profile with a much thinner end. This design can reduce weight, which is a key factor for batters facing pitchers whose throwing speeds are faster than ever.
Are torpedo bats legal?
Torpedo bats are legal and comply with Rule 3.02 of Major League Baseball, which states: “A bat shall be a smooth, round stick with a diameter of no more than 2.61 inches at its thickest part and a length of no more than 42 inches.”
Can a baseball bat give an advantage to a batter?

For those who like to swing it (but not all swingers like it), there are two benefits. Both are based on logic and physics. First, distributing more weight to the area that most commonly makes contact fits the batter’s swing pattern and creates a greater impact when hitting the ball.
